End of Day 1 - Half Way Home

Photos
Scoreboard

It's the end of day 1 in 8-way and exactly half way through this competition....Black Ice kept composed and focused for the entire day. The team leads by 4 points over Cross Keys 8. This is a slim margin and no one will let their guard down. It will be a long day tomorrow, so the team plans for an early night tonight before a very early call in the morning to begin round 6. The keys to today's success was clearly in the first round. The team had an outstanding round with 11 points and ended the day with 9 points in the 5th round, which was the best point total for any team in that round. The team will be rounding up for an early call at about 7-ish tomorrow morning. I will keep the reports coming.

I just got word that we're all going to a Japanese steakhouse for dinner....this is good news! The team will be eating well...hopefully the sushi in the arid desert doesn't mess with anyone's stomachs!

In the 8-Way Open class, the French are dominating and showing why they were World Champions in 8-way earlier this year. This is their specialty and they are showing it. Because this is the US National Championships, the French are a guest team and are not eligible to win a gold medal. Because of this, Airspeed is technically leading the competition over USA - 8.

The NSL has posted Airspeed's dive from their 9th round yesterday in 4-way. It's pretty fast stuff and worth a look. www.4way.us/nsl/uspa08r9openairspeed.wmv

Also, big props to Performance Designs for their coverage of the Nationals. They did great getting excellent interviews with the champions after the 4-way competition. Click Here to check out the interviews!
